Racism? Anti-Semitism? Where? We Didn’t See Any.

A shocking photo emerged this week. It showed Donald Trump palling around with former KKK leader David Duke a few years ago. Along with several conservative Members of Congress. They had asked the photographer to not publish it. For fear of embarrassing the President.

Meanwhile, 21 of them attended Duke’s latest KKK rally, held last week. Tea Party leaders also attended. They praised Duke following his remarks.

At the rally, Duke blasted blacks and Jews. He called them his enemy. He accused the FBI of collaborating with Jews. “You see, Jews have control over these agencies of government.”

Back in 1984 Duke praised Hitler as “a very great man”. Obviously referring to the Holocaust, he said “When it’s God who puts you in the ovens, it’s forever.”

At his recent rally Duke said “Black folks are going down.” He said Jews would go down as well. Along with Satan. He accused blacks and Jews of “all this filth and degenerate behavior that Hollywood is putting out.”  He claimed “Jews are the children of the devil.”

In the past, Duke declared Jews and Blacks were involved in the attacks on the Twin Trade Towers and Pentagon. “Black people deserve to die!” he said.

Major networks asked the congressmen who attended the Duke rally to disavow Duke and the KKK. They also asked Tea Party leaders to do the same. To no avail.

Pretty disgusting, eh?

Of course, it is not true. None of it. But imagine the uproar if it was. Imagine the demands for impeachment.  Of the President. Of the congressmen and women.

Big media and Hollywood figures would froth with rage. Columnists, bobbing heads would erupt with demands and accusations.

All of the above stuff about the rally did occur. However, instead of David Duke holding a rally, it was Louis Farrakhan who did. He is the leader of the Nation of Islam. That outfit is openly anti-semitic. It baldly declares blacks are superior to whites. The quoted remarks above were his.  They were directed toward Jews. Or toward whites.

Over the years, Farrakhan has spewed more anti-semitic hatred than Vesuvius spilled lava. He declared Jews have “a strangle-hold on Congress.”  He blames them for black oppression. He claims the FBI – under Jewish influence – pushed marijuana onto black men to “feminize” them. He reckons whites are a “race of devils”.

Yet it’s quite all right for Members of Congress to attend his rallies. Nooooo problem.

We have seen no eruption over Farrakhan’s latest remarks. Not from members of Congress’s Black Caucus.  They have embraced Farrakhan over the years. No criticism from co-founders of the Women’s March movement.  They were at his rally and declared he is just wunnerful. Even though he has made utterly degrading remarks about women. His Nation of Islam is an enemy of LGBTQ rights.

We have seen no outrage that then-senator Obama was also chummy with Farrakhan. No one got upset that the CDC suppressed photos of Obama with Farrakhan.  This was when he and fellow Members of Congress met with this Jew-hating leader.

The Hollywood elite have been silent on this. No denouncements from big media columnists and commentators.

Why do you suppose this is?  Suppose a figure from the right drives past a city where the alt-right movement has a party. All hell breaks loose. Yet figures from the left can actually show at a rally of a bigot who spews racial poison. And the normal battery of critics falls silent. Not a peep about racism from them. And anti-semitism? No mention of it.

There could be no more glaring double standard. Why do you suppose big media never notice?
